The British government is prepared to move forward with using the full worth of immobilized Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade Russia to come to the table.

They clarified that the move would be implemented in close cooperation with the United States.

British penalties have frozen more than £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow initiated its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. But, up to this point, resources provided to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had exclusively been taken from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were aligned in their desire to drive progress toward utilizing the complete amount of the immobilized Moscow's national funds to end the war.

He added that more measures in the coming days and weeks would apply more pressure on Russia.

This declaration is subsequent to EU officials gathered in Copenhagen last week to consider employing seized Russia's assets for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump called on G7 allies to confiscate or otherwise use immobilized Russian holdings, as reported by reports.

The worth of seized Russian holdings in the EU is calculated to be nearly €211bn.

Leader Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL program

The Russian government launched widespread aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on Friday, causing electricity outages in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were fatally injured and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the assault, the Ukrainian government stated.

In a post on social media subsequent to the incident, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack targeted public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not just talk but concrete steps - from the United States, EU, and the Group of Seven - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing restrictions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a additional update.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to the press he would press Sir Keir to participate in the PURL program, under which Nato countries buy arms from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the Britain's firm backing for Ukraine, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the program, as well as apply more measures on Moscow.
