The former Liverpool manager states a return to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that a future comeback remains something that could happen. Klopp, post a game-changing near-decade reign featuring a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

The club claimed England's top flight in the previous campaign, but many fans who revere Klopp would embrace the notion that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he explained to his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach another team within the country. So that means should it be the Reds...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”

“I’m 58, that means I might decide later on, who knows. Is a decision required immediately? If so, I wouldn't return. But thank God, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what the future brings.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Questioned regarding what circumstances would have to unfold to tempt his return to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing under bad weather through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area per se, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories thus frequently positive atmosphere at the club. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter ringing in my ears as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He spoke highly of the current boss, acknowledging his role for the tweaks which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. An outstanding player. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they will be fine.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly on the loss of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota lost his life in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.

“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It’s not about the player himself, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the team environment absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for all the boys as well. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this emotionally is challenging. Impossible.”
