President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have taken place in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president told journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Attendees assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her alma mater, told the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.

The event led the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop providing entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with honor, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” he addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
