The January transfer window is always a time of feverish rumour and potential big-money deals. Numerous prominent players are being linked with transfers out of their current teams. This article explores a selection of the top names who could be changing clubs in January.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' inability to reach the AFCON, which has left the forward available, indications are a major transfer is close. This 25-year-old has a deal featuring a sizeable buy-out clause active for a short period in early January. Latest reports point to Manchester City look to have won the race for his signature. Former suitors such as Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have moved on to alternative targets, leaving teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a late move.

M. Guéhi

The England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous move to Anfield collapsing. As his contract set to run out in the close season, this represents the club's final chance to secure a fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, including Manchester City and multiple continental powerhouses like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly hold an interest. Yet, a winter departure is considered unlikely, particularly given the manager's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Wales winger has had first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Despite finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, he has started only a small number of Premier League matches. It is understood the North London outfit would be willing to consider a sale for the right price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. The Cherries appear to be leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an interest.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal playmaker could be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now only twenty-eight, and with his contract ending in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential opportunity. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with the player. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spanish media that he is willing to accept a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça following new manager Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January departure seems highly likely. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a possible suitor, but that move currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

This proven English striker has continued finding the net regularly in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League could boost his fading chances of making the England World Cup. However, arranging a deal poses significant challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to sell him, and his reported huge salary render any move difficult.
