Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
