Individuals of an Italian clan of burglars who took more than £1.2m worth of items, among them from former Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, have been mandated to pay back only £1 per person.

Siblings Valentino and Giacomo, their female sibling Jela Jovanovic and her son Charlie travelled to the north-east of England to burgle three houses in April 2024.

The group of four were jailed for from a decade or less in 2025.

At a criminal assets hearing at the court, Jela Jovanovic and the Nikolov brothers were ordered to pay back £1 per person while Charlie must hand over over a thousand pounds.

Details of the Burglaries

The judge previously heard the group arrived by ferry in the United Kingdom on 27 March 2024 and employed a campervan as their "headquarters", which they stationed at Scotch Corner and Durham service rest stops while utilizing a separate vehicle to scout out targets and execute thefts.

On March 31 they took more than one million pounds of items such as high-end fashion, purses, jewellery and a CBE medal from a house on a street in Jesmond, while the residents were on holiday.

The following night, the crew broke into a home on a private road in Whitburn, and stole luxury bags, jewellery and footwear valued at more than one hundred thousand pounds.

After scouting out the football club's facility for two days, they then acted at the residence of Sweden striker Mr Isak in Darras Hall on April 4, stealing £10,000 in cash, sixty-eight thousand pounds worth of jewelry and the striker's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6.

The group, who were portrayed by prosecutors as experienced itinerant thieves, used gloves and masks, turned their phones off as they approached their objectives and strapped a number plate, which had been taken from a auto shop in a town, on to their car with elastic bands.

They were arrested in the Birmingham on April 13.

Legal Hearings and Sentencing

Valentino had denied conspiracy to burglary but was found guilty by jurors, while his family members had all submitted guilty pleas to the identical accusation.

The remaining members had no money or assets so were directed to make a nominal fee of £1 per person, with seven days in prison the consequence if the money was not paid.

The judge Robert Spragg said if they were found with property in the coming years, "such as operating in Italy in a fast car or possessing a home", prosecutors could seek further action to "satisfy the amount outstanding".
